“I had the privilege of being invited to speak at the 3rd installment of the Tech Meet Up event, organised and hosted by the Tshimologong Precinct on Thursday 20th Sept. The audience consisted mainly of students, academics, entrepreneurs and developers, all of whom were united in the common goal of broadening their personal knowledge base, as well as finding new ways to positively impact society through technology. I often see new developers and entrepreneurs struggle to convert their passion and prototypes into commercially viable products.
My talk for the evening was titled “The IoT Opportunity: Concept to Commercialisation” and was aimed at empowering the audience with some fundamental guidelines and thought processes to help them move their product through the different stages of development and into mass production. The session was interactive and engaging, with a multitude of innovative ideas being discussed throughout the evening. Each time I attend an event such as Tech Meet Up, I am reminded of the immense opportunity that lies within the minds of the people of South Africa, and I believe that we have not yet begun to fully tap this vast resource.”
